It’s all systems go this month here at RW Aesthetics Shropshire; with a new website, holiday and we’re excited to announce that we’re now offering BOTOX® as one of our treatments!
With so much information out there about BOTOX® (good and bad), we thought we’d write a blog telling you a little bit more about this very clever liquid; where it came from and how it can benefit you.

What Is Botox?
BOTOX® is a drug prepared from a type of Botulinum toxin used medically to treat certain muscular conditions and cosmetically to remove wrinkles by temporarily paralysing specific facial muscles.
The History Of Botox
The history of BOTOX® is an incredible story of how a potent substance found in nature has been turned in to and used for both medical and aesthetic purposes, with amazing results.
OnabotulinumtoxinA received FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approval for therapeutic use in 1989 and was then rebranded BOTOX®. Through extensive research into aesthetic uses, the Allergan brand later started clinical trials to study the treatment’s safety and efficacy in treating moderate to severe frown lines.
In 2002, the FDA approved BOTOX® as a temporary aesthetic treatment for moderate to severe frown lines in adults and requested that the product was marketed as BOTOX® Cosmetic, to make sure there was a clear separation between BOTOX® for aesthetic and therapeutic uses. It was the first treatment of its kind to be approved for aesthetic use and today it’s still the only product FDA-approved to make lines and wrinkles look better in adults.
Approved and available for use in 98 countries, BOTOX® has become the #1 selling treatment of its kind around the world, which is why we use it here at RW Aesthetics Shropshire.
What Botox Does
Repeated frowning, squinting or raising your eyebrows (along with other factors) can cause your skin to furrow and fold, resulting in facial lines forming over time. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a quick treatment that takes around ten minutes. Injected in to specific muscles, it works beneath the surface of your skin to temporarily reduce the muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines in adults… helping to soften and reduce them.

Is Botox Safe & Which Brand Is The Best?
BOTOX® is the most widely researched treatment of its kind. Backed by over 15 years of clinical studies, BOTOX® Cosmetic uses a unique manufacturing process. This makes BOTOX® very safe, and why there is no such thing as generic ‘Botox’- a product is either BOTOX® branded, or it’s not.
Are BOTOX® injections safe? With anything in life, there is a chance of complications, which BOTOX® make very clear. Check out their website for all of the warnings regarding BOTOX® or book in for a free consultation with Dr Worrall to discuss.
Always ask to see the bottle of BOTOX® Cosmetic before your treatment. The vial will have the BOTOX® Cosmetic logo and also have a holographic image that says Allergan. If it doesn’t have this, then it’s not the official product. BOTOX® Cosmetic is manufactured by Allergan in a state-of-the-art facility under the strictest quality and safety standards, which is why it’s become the #1 selling treatment of its kind in 98 countries.
Are Botox Results Instant & How Long Does Botox Last For?
Regarding when BOTOX® starts working, you may begin to notice a visible smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles within 24-48 hours, with results lasting up to four months. Having the treatment stalls or ‘freezes’ the effects of ageing. BOTOX® will slowly start to wear off after this time and if you don’t follow up with your next treatment, you’ll start to get movement back, along with your original lines and wrinkles.
Does Botox Hurt?
Some patients that have had BOTOX® Cosmetic injections say that they feel a pinch-like sensation; some people don’t feel a thing.
